Basic Principles of Good Behaviour |
|
Respect for person and property and the need for order is a fundamental principle of this Code of Behaviour.
The cultivation of a secure, happy and pleasant atmosphere within the school is necessary for good conduct.
The pupils should be aware of the rules and their purpose. It is unreasonable to expect children to consistently adhere rigidly to a long list of rules. If rules are broken, correction by inducing a sense of failure or guilt does not encourage improvement in behaviour. Promotion of a sense of success and self-esteem is an effective means of improving behaviour.
Day to day interaction between pupils and teachers should strive to emphasise the positive as much as possible. Reliance must be placed on individuals to respond to the spirit of good conduct rather than the requirement to be preoccupied constantly with adherence to specific rules.
All children are entitled to be treated fairly.
These rules will be subject to periodic review. |

School and Church History |
|
St Patrick’s Church, Dalkey, was consecrated on 5th March 1843 to provide a place of worship for the Church of Ireland (Anglican) community in an area 13km south of Dublin City, on the coast between Dun Laoghaire and Bray, Co. Wicklow.
Designed by Jacob Owen and built on a magnificent site overlooking the Irish Sea, it has an impressive ashlar granite façade with narrow gothic windows. The Church of the Assumption (RC) and the Loreto Convent were also completed in Dalkey in the 1840’s. |
